This product is perfect for the person who has already completed an intensive course of study (such as one of our library products) and now needs to prepare specifically for the exam. If you haven't completed such a course, you probably are not ready for this product. If time permits, however, you may want to buy this product and test yourself to see how close you really are (or aren't).
If you are an individual preparing for an exam:
Do not try to save money by purchasing only these books, paying the exam fee, taking a day off work to take the exam, and then repeating the whole process.
The exams are tough. Set yourself up for success, rather than failure, by purchasing a Mike Holt Exam Course or Library.
Use the right tool for the job.
The electrical exam consists of multiple parts. Each is either a verbal test or calculations test.
The verbal parts have True/False questions and multiple choice questions. These are intended to test your knowledge of electrical theory and the NEC, which, of course, you will know cold because you will have bought this library to prepare.
The calculations tests cover specific areas of NEC application. You need to know how to size raceway, conductors, and overcurrent protection devices, among other things. You must be able to calculate these in a variety of ways. This NEC Exam Course will prepare you for these exam calculations. It will prepare you by explaining how to calculate, then supplying practice problems. You'll understand the why, not just the how, and that will eliminate "formula confusion."
Should you try to wing it?
Many people think that being an electrical engineer or having worked in the field for 20 years is sufficient preparation. They find out the hard way that it's not.
Systematic study has proven to be the way to prepare. It's how you can ace your exam the first time.
You may know your job very well and work with the NEC all the time. But that will get you only part way toward passing the electrical exam. Exam prep materials get you the rest of the way there.
These Mike Holt sample video clips give you a glimpse of Mike's presentation style. Below, you can see Mike discuss specific areas of the NEC. At right is a testimonial.
