EZ-Lock™ film holders
4800 dpi high resolution, 48-bit color depth and 4.0 Dmax. The ScanMaker i800 has a 41,300-element CCD with resolution that reaches up to 4,800 pixels per inch. With the built-in 48-bit ADC (Analog to Digital Converter), the ScanMaker i800 can convert originals to digital data with high fidelity format. It is capable of delivering full 48-bit depth color for richer and smoother tonal values, and an optical range of 4.0 Dmax allows users to capture details in highlight and shadow areas, as well as accurately represent gradation and natural color from originals without sacrificing details of the image.
Built-in 8" x 12" transparency adapter delivers professional results. The ScanMaker i800 sports a built-in 8” x 12” transparency adapter with a separate moving light source that allows you to scan film and transparencies easily. Moreover, the ScanMaker i800 utilizes a TMA design that allows you to scan various materials with high productivity templates.
Exclusive EZ-LockTM film holders. Specially designed EZ-Lock™ film holders accommodate 35mm slides, 35mm filmstrips, 4" x 5", and 120 film up to 6 x 17cm panoramic. The film holders lock into place, assurance perfect alignment and precise scans, as well as offering convenient batch scanning. Plus, the included 4" x 5" and 6 x 22cm film holders with unique patented (pending) Tension Technology are specially designed that ensure your film stays perfectly flat, yielding sharper image quality.
Unique PictuRescue system. This combined photo and film reconstruction and restoration solution incorporates DIGITAL ICE Technology and ColoRescue.
With DIGITAL ICE technology, the ScanMaker i800 can automatically map, identify, and eliminate surface defects on both photos and film. Built into the hardware and software, DIGITAL ICE removes dust, scratches, rips, and tears, reconstructing your damaged photos and film and restoring them to pristine, near-original quality.
With ColoRescue, the ScanMaker i800 restores faded colors in photos and film, bringing hues back to their original luster and brilliance for more vibrant images. ColoRescue's one-click, automatic color recovery process is simple and easy to use.
ScanWizard™ Pro scanning software. This is an advanced scanner controller program that provides many powerful, professional-level features for scanning. ScanWizard Pro features two color spaces, allowing users to work in the Native CMYK / RGB mode, as well as in the intuitive LCH (Lightness, Chroma, Hue) mode.
Auto Dynamic Range. The system automatically determines the lightest density or tone (Dmin) and darkest tone (Dmax) of the original; then it captures the image color data with the full input tonal range of the scanner. This setting optimizes color balance and the contrast of the output image, and is most useful for scanning negative films.
Multiple Sampling. Multiple Sampling is a process in which the scanner samples each line in the image a number of times, then obtains an average to reduce random noise.
Auto Color Restoration. The Automatic Color Restoration feature is part of Microtek' s ColoRescueTM system for
bringing faded colors back to life.
Descreen. Descreen feature can remove moire patterns when scanning pictures or photographs printed in magazines or newspapers.

We actually ordered this by mistake (meant to order a cheaper one), but by the time we realized what we paid we had already wiped out a backlog of digitization work including color prints and 35mm slides. The scanner had paid for itself twice over, so we were happy to keep it.
