The mobile, self-contained, hand-held InfoScan 2 scanning pen allows you to scan and store printed text while on the go; transfer to PC later, at your convenience. Easily fits in your pocket or purse. It stores up to 20,000 lines (500 pages) of text at a time, offering a quick and easy way to take notes and create text that is fully editable in Windows applications.
The Infoscan 2 Elite scanning pen makes digital note-taking as easy as using a standard highlighter.
Instead of feeding coins to a copy machine, dragging your laptop around, or going nuts trying to key in your hastily-scrawled hand-written copy of source material, just use this note-taking pen to pick up the material directly and store it in the pen. Then transfer to your PC later when you're back at home base.
How it works
Inside the tip of the Scanning Pen: WizCom InfoScan 2 is a highly sophisticated electronic eye that helps simplify your life. This eye enables you to scan different types of information from the printed page into your scanning pen.
The Scanning Pen: WizCom InfoScan 2 processes this information via Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and performs other subsequent tasks so you can use that information more easily. You can:
Transfer to PC, PDA, or Smartphone. View stored information on the integrated LCD display and easily transfer data to any PC, PDA or Smartphone via standard USB or infra-red connections.
Edit. Use any Windows application to work with the text you have scanned and transferred.
Scan foreign languages (not just English). The Scanning Pen: WizCom InfoScan 2 scans and recognizes French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. It does not translate these languages into English, but it does perform OCR on their character sets and combine those to recognize words in those languages.
Listen to scanned paragraphs.

If you uncheck "Flush" in the Pen-PC File Transfer Settings in the QuickLink Pen Elite Desktop, the files will not be flushed from the pen. But over time, the pen's memory will become full.
You can delete any file from the pen by using the "Delete File" function in Scan and Store.
How accurate is it? Answer: It's 97% accurate
How hard is it to use?
Answer: If you have good dexterity, it's easy to use. How much dexterity do you need? Here's a simple test. Grab a text highlighter, and see if you can draw a straight line of highlighting in a newspaper or magazine. If so, you are good to go! If not, you are going to find the pen difficult to use.
Does it really read to you?
Answer: You can't just wave it across a page and hear James Earl Jones reading the text. After you complete scanning a line or word, the pen recognizes the characters and looks up the words in its internal dictionary. It then can pronounce them in sequence.
