Math skills connection

Math. This skill set has a direct impact on how well you do in life. Math skills are basic tools of independence and success in the job world--and in making the most of your hard-earned money.

Take our Practical Math Course. You'll learn all kinds of neat tricks for making math easy. If you don't like the course, we'll refund your money.

Some tips on how to learn math

  1. Once a month, visit your library and select a book on math. If you don't like the book, then make a point of learning one thing from it and stopping.
  2. Relate the math to other things in life. For example, if you like to go for walks then use math to calculate time and distance. Calculate what your paycheck would be if Congress ever passed reasonable tax legislation. Calculate what time on what day of the week you have worked to pay all of your taxes for the week (hint: the day is Thursday). Add up your groceries as you go, while shopping--without a calculator.
  3. Figure out the cost of getting sick, and keep that number in mind each time you reach for junkfood to put in your shopping cart.
  4. Play math games when you can--don't think of math as a chore. Find a family member or friend who will trade math problems with you, and coach each other.
  5. Develop that part of your brain that solves math problems by also doing crossword puzzles, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing chess, or figuring out a travel itinerary.
  6. Keep score at a card game, ball game, or marital spat. OK, well, don't keep score in a relationship--because your maximum final score wil be zero!
  7. Learn to round numbers. For example, what is 80 times 81? Well, if you know your squares, you know 8 times 8 is 64 and 10 times 10 is 100. So, 80 times 80 is 6400. Add one more 80 to the mix, and the answer to the problem is 6480. Easy! We have many more such tips in our Practical Math Course.
  8. Practice, practice, practice. You learn math by doing!

A course on practical math

 Copyright, Mindconnection
How many times have you looked at a math problem and felt your stomach churn? Do you make mistakes filing your taxes? Do car salesmen and other hard pressure people work you over with voodoo math you feel defenseless to counter? Help is here.

You can master math. If you've felt like a math dummy, you can end that feeling, thanks to this course. You see, the problem isn't you. It's the irresponsibly stupid way math was inflicted on you when what you really needed was to be taught how math works. There is nothing more logical than math; you just need to understand that logic and how to apply it. This course teaches you that, thus making math simple for you.

Math is important, is it not? Of course it is. What are your answers to these questions:

  • Do you feel better math skills will help you do better on your job?
  • Would better math skills improve the way you invest your money?
  • Spend your money?
  • Do you encounter everyday situations where you just wish you could "do the math?"
  • Do you have difficulty sifting through election promises?

Help is here.

Do you fear your kids will grow up math-illiterate, instead of being able to shine on their SATs? Would you like to set an example for your kids, help them win a scholarship, and feel competent in this basic life skill? Help is here.

This practical math course takes you from basic addition through algebra and trig. No, you won't encounter a bunch of mysterious symbols or mathematical jargon to memorize. You will learn how to do the math. Without getting a headache from it.
