Managing a Non-Profit

If you are an “achiever,” someone will invite you to join the Board of a non-profit organization. It could be a church, civic group, professional society, or club. Or, you could be involved in a political action group (which can’t get “non profit” status under the Tax Code). Applying traditional manager behavior to a non-profit is a recipe for failure. As a Board Member, you can be held personally and individually liable for legal and financial problems. That kind of failure can ruin your life. This course will show you how to succeed.

You'll master these skills:

  • Developing the eagle-eye view
  • Setting goals
  • Defining tasks
  • Defining officer responsibilities
  • Mastering meetings so they are short and effective
  • Managing the Board
  • Making the organization exciting to the members
  • Recruiting people
  • Rewarding people
  • Supervising volunteers and holding them accountable
  • Dealing with outside agencies and other entities
  • Developing and implementing safeguards
