4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Good insight, not always applicable, 8.30.2011

This course would be perfect if every manager had to follow what it teaches. I was very excited after going through the material, because I could see the huge savings in time and productivity. But convincing various meeting-manic managers in my company to change their calcified and destructive ways had me beating my head against the wall. The upshot is I was able to improve my own department's output significantly and use that success to springboard into a promotion. It was actually with another company, very forward-thinking, and I am there now. Unless you're willing to leave the company you're in now, I'm not sure this course is going to be 100% effective for you.

This is written in response to the person who has idiotic bosses that call for idiotic and endless meetings. I read this once, and it is very effective...Take all of the chairs out of the meeting room...everyone stands. So come prepared, because no one likes to stand forever. Hope this might help you, and pass it on.

3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Requires too much culture change, 1.25.2010

This course gives a lot of great advice. But you have to be working somewhere that isn't mired in a bureaucratic culture to use it. Or maybe be a boss at such a place. I've tried several of the suggestions from the meetings victim, er, I mean attendee, standpoint and have had only minimal success. I'm not using my real name on this, because even though I hate my job and the crazy meetings it requires, I need that job to pay my bills. What would really help is a course on how to find a job at a place that doesn't have endless, mindless meetings run by idiotic, mindless bosses with nothing better to do than call endless, mindless meetings.

I bought this sometime this past spring, and began implementing the concepts. Productivity, creativity, and morale have all improved. Like all small businesses, we have been struggling in the face of the bailouts, porkulus, and other massive wealth transfers to special interests. Getting a handle on our meetings has been a big part of that, and it's really helped.

In my company, which my uncle started, meetings were morale busters and time wasters. We know this because people griped about them all the time, showed up late and unprepared, and sometimes mentioned them in their exit interviews. One of our employees bought this course and forwarded it to me. I was intrigued, so read through it and forwarded it to our Operations Manager (the one who holds about half our meetings) insisting he being implementation immediately. We've already seen a dramatic improvement. Great stuff. Thanks.
