Speech
| Most Lingo translators have voice output (see Specs tab). No Lingo models have speech input (speech recognition). |
Translating
| Lingo devices offer two translation tools:
Dictionary
- Look up single words.
- Translate between any two languages, not just English and another language.
- Arranged alphabetically.
- For most models, there are 20,000 words per language. See the specs tab for the exact count for this model.
How it's used in a real communication situation:
You just need a word, so you can get an idea across. What is the word for "bridge?" You need to meet someone at the bridge in an hour. Which way do you go? You look up the word "bridge" and show the translation to the other person (or, alternatively, have the unit speak it). With gestures, you indicate you want to know which way.
The other person points. Or, alternatively, the other person looks up "South" and shows you the translation. Head south, and you'll get to the bridge.
Phrasebook
- Look up canned phrases.

Why Lingo
Lingo translators occupy a specific niche in the translator market. Here's what makes them distinctive:
- Lingo translates in all directions. Other translators have language pairs, but Lingo translates across all languages.
- Lingo standardized on 20,000 words and 2,000 phrases. See the specs tab for the exact count for this model.
- Because of its dictionary size, a Lingo unit is considered a tourist-level device. For tourists, this is perfect. And very cost-effective.

POs
| Many of our customers need to purchase via Purchase Order and pay by check or wire transfer. We are happy to have such customers. Thus, we accommodate buyers who have to work within paper-based systems, though we don't use paper ourselves. As an Earth-friendly company, we don't do faxes.
Here are a couple of ways you can send us your order: |
| |
| Option One Type a short e-mail telling us:
- What you want.
- Where to send it.
- Whom to invoice (via e-mail).
- What the PO number is.
We don't need your actual PO. |
Option Two
- Proceed through checkout, as though you were using a credit card.
- For Bill To, enter the e-mail address of your Accounts Payable Department (or someone in it).
- When you get to the page that asks for your credit card number, stop.
- Copy and paste the order information from that page into an HTML-formatted e-mail.
- Enter your PO number above the order information.
- Send the e-mail to sales@mindconnection.com, with a subject line that makes sense to you.
|
|
If you already have a PO saved as a PDF, you can just e-mail that. We ship once AP acknowledges they have the invoice. We can insert a "Pay After" date if your system uses a paper PO as a process flag for payment. |
| |
|
Terms. Our terms are Net 20, with the discount provided in the regular price. If you need more time, the rates below apply. Don't consider mailing time in your calculations. If you process a check within 20 days after we send you the invoice, then no financing fee applies (your order will have long since arrived). Otherwise, please adjust the payment amount as follows: |
| |
| Period |
Fee |
|
Remember, we give the discount upfront rather than inflating the price to penalize customers who pay promptly. We want to give you that discount. If you have special circumstances, let us know and we'll try to work something out. |
| After 20 days |
2% of order total |
| After 30 days |
4% of order total |
| After 40 days |

    Missing words, 10.23.2009

Having 40 different languages is great, but the problem for me is I run into words that it doesn't have.

    I love this product, 6.4.2009

Reviewer: David Powell (Central, IL)

I have "chatted" with a Thai waitress. I have appreciated Lithuanian with someone shocked I had any interest in her language. I am now able to read Spanish books. I have aspirations to travel and talk to all formerly impossible to have an interaction with.
This product satisfies a natural desire and need to recognize and appreciated the global citizen. The world should not be dominated by a language foreign to billions, the world should buy your product and have fun.
I will always suggest this as a gift and teaching/learning tool!

    So many languages!, 1.26.2009

|
Reviewer: Cindy Swankler (Seattle, )

This has every language I could want on it. That's the big plus. I travel a lot and just need to get around to the basic places. Once I'm actually in a meeting, there's always an interpreter so I don't need anything for that purpose. It's the "in between" where I need to find a word or phrase. This usually has me covered. I can't type in my own sentences, and that's a drawback. But I can carry this one device on any trip I take and that's a huge plus.
