Erase Language Barriers with a Pocket-sized Electronic Translator
Choose language
Pocket electronic translators come in a variety of models.
How can you possibly sort through them all to find the one that's right for you? Select by language (above right) or select a model below. Sentence translation and other advanced features are in the 900 and iTravl (below). The other models range from mid-level to tourist-level.
Overview
A great approach to buying an electronic translator is to decide first of all what you want to use it for. This allows you to quickly narrow down the range of models to look at.
If you're taking a business trip to Japan, you'll need a full-function Japanese-English translator. If you're taking a weeklong vacation tour across Europe, you'd probably be better served with a multi-language dictionary-phrasebook. But what if you need a fair amount of translation in multiple languages? In that case, you'd want to look at one of the full-function translators (the iTravl or 900) in a multiple-language configuration. You'll find the language sets are grouped logically. For example, the iTravl 13AS has 13 languages with the A standing for "Asian" and the 8W has 8 Western European languages.
You'll notice on the slider above that we show the 900 and iTravl first and refer to them as full-function. One of those functions is "Full Text Translation," which people call "sentence translation" though it really means you (or the person you're communicating with) can type in a text string (e.g., "Where can I rent a red motor scooter?" and the device will translate each word in the order entered and then apply some rules of syntax to approximate a translation. Another function is "Language Teacher." And there are many more functions you don't find on the other units.
The next level of devices are those that are dictionary/phrasebooks. They basically allow you to look up words or canned phrases. Among these units, your basic decision is the appearance of the unit. Except for the Lingo devices, they pair English with a foreign language. The Lingo devices allow translation between any two of the included languages, but the limit there is the dictionary size and phrasebook size are very small.
The last device we show is the phrasebook. It contains 7,000 phrases per language. Please note that all electronic translators provide text to text translation. If you've heard about speech to speech translation, odds are you've heard disinformation. We provide a clear and accurate explanation of this fallacy on the Speech tab of our product pages. Pick a translator category from above, select a product, and find out more.
Mindconnection offers the best combination of prices and service in the industry. That claim becomes self-evident when you click through and read our product descriptions.
For example, here: Spanish iTravl. Notice the detail, and the lack of adjectives and fluff.
You'll also notice we don't offer any cheap (as in crappy) translators. Why is this? There's cheap, and there's low-cost. A cheap device is a total waste of money. Call us crazy, but we don't think wasting money is a priority for our customers.
If we offer it, it's in stock unless noted "pre-order only." Typically, an item will ship same day, if ordered before noon central time.
Why our factory direct shipping works for you. We sell factory-direct. What does that mean for you?
A large online retailer noted for its low prices also sells these devices (we beat their price, usually). But they don't support them and they buy large quantities that just sit in a warehouse for months on end. So one from them is likely to be several revisions behind the current one, but you'd be paying for it with today's money.
Manufacturers continually make small improvements in these products, and when you order from us you get the current revision. Imagine buying a car, and it's last year's model but you are paying this year's sticker price. That's how they do it, now how we do it.
For unsurpassed performance and ease of use in an electronic translator, see the iTravl.

Travel Tip
Don't wait until the last minute before a trip. Order well ahead of time. Things seldom go wrong with our orders, but it seems that when they do it's always when someone is making a last-minute order before a trip. Sort of like the one time you leave home without your driver's license you get pulled over....
