Why Great Gadgets?
Mindconnection got into the electronic translator business and the scanning pen business back in the late 1990s. Customers have come back to us, asking about other electronic gear, such as weather radios, bug detectors, and the other great gadgets you can see in our offerings.
The categories you see above are our best sellers in our great gadget offerings. The popularity has changed over time, providing some interesting insight into what's going on in today's world.
For an example of "falling off the list," mobile printers were extremely popular a few years ago. But demand has slowed for many reasons. These include a decreasing affinity for paper, and the increased used of networked printers available via an Internet connection.

Formerly the tools of spies and detectives, spygear is now in the mainstream. Why do people from so many walks of life use spygear today? Partly, it's because the gear itself has become so technologically advanced that it can do things that were once only science fiction. And partly, it's because of the increased need for security, surveillance, countersurveillance, and detection today's troubled world brings.
People are simply buying more gear today than in the past. This is driven by two main factors. The first is that prices have come down, while functionality has gone up.
The second is that people are buying gear to solve problems in their lives; that is, they buy for specific intended uses rather than just to be cool or to have something interesting to show their friends.
You've probably heard expressions such as "Man up" or "Lawyer up." The first means to rise to the challenge and do what needs to be done. The second means to hire a legal team to represent your interests in a serious, "we will win" way. The expression "gear up" has its roots in these kinds of expressions, and it means to stop depriving yourself of the electronic gear that can save you time and money, or in some other way help you get more from life.
