We had about 60 people at this conference. Click any thumb for an enlarged image. Because we had Black & Veatch's master auditorium and it's sized for about 250 people as we had, these photos are a bit deceiving.

We had two grand prizes:

  • A set of Lightning Protection standards (NFPA 780 and LPI-175), from Harger Lightning Protection, www.harger.com.
  • Paid attendance to the 2006 Spring Conference, from Syska Hennessy Group, Inc. www.syska.com).

We had other great prizes, such as honey from bees cared for by charter member Joseph Stamper.

Thumb Caption
Mark Harger, of Harger Lightning Protection, addresses a rapt audience. His presentation probably saved some people a lot of money.
A shot of the audience. Notice, nobody is dozing!
Another Harger shot. Harger provided a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate, as the Second Grand Prize.
Another Harger shot. The stage was well-lit during his presentation, so his were among the few speaker photos that turned out right. Next time, I'll have to bring my professional flash unit rather than relying on the dinky built-in flash.
Some of the attendees chowing down on the great eats provided by Black & Veatch. And talking and mingling and networking....
More great mingling and networking. Nobody stands around bored and lonesome during breaks or meals.
Ryan Pletka of Black & Veatch talks about energy in general and alternative energy in particular. He covered some great new material. The subject is more complex than many people realize!
Another Ryan shot.
A member of the Syska Hennessy team talking about cooling (maybe that's why it was so dark?

Even with the lights so low, nobody was snoring. The number of questions at the end was unusually high for our group, too.
Another Syska Hennessy shot. Good light, this time! Syska provided a paid admission to the next conference, as the First Grand Prize.
We knew this topic would be interesting, but the audience seemed riveted. It may have helped that these folks had three presenters, so the energy was high.
Bruce Bleser of Black & Veatch gave a fun and interesting presentation on the Sprint Mobile platform. Unfortunately, I got caught up in that and totally forgot to take a photo. The man here is the engineer from Sprint. He was also quite interesting, but I had my wits about me by then....
