Title: Cooling Water Reliability and Sustainability

Presentation Summary:

This presentation will focus on how best in class water treatment technology, programs, and engineering service can have a positive impact on Data Center Reliability and Sustainability. The proper program implementation will help lower the Power Usage Effectiveness, reduce Water Requirements, and score LEED credit points.

  • Reliability - Proper design and operations of the HVAC water treatment program will ensure that there is no downtime. On line monitoring of the key metrics including Corrosion, Scale, and Bio Indices will ensure that the system is operating within industry standards and prevent any equipment failures.

  • Power - With the cooling equipment consuming 35-45% of all the Data Center power, ensuring that the HVAC equipment operates at design efficiency is vital to achieving as low a PUE as possible. The presentation will review cause and effect PUE calculations.

  • Water - Water continues to become an even more precious resource. For larger projects, this can affect program viability, as many municipalities simply do not have the capacity for the water requirements. The presentation will review different methods as to how water can be saved by maximizing system cycles of concentration.
