Title: Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Global Warming, and Climate Change. Presentation Summary: Mr. Byers will explain the basic scientific concepts and relationships between greenhouse gas emissions, global warming, and climate change. The current legislative, legal, and political drivers for regulation of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States will then be explained. Finally, a summary of proposed and possible actions and solutions to meet national and international reduction goals will be outlined Speaker Bio: Mr. Byers is an Associate Vice President in Black & Veatch’s Energy Division. He serves as the Division’s Legislative and Regulatory Policy Advisor, as well as a Senior Project Manager for its Environmental Health and Safety business. His consulting practice includes both domestic and international permitting, development and acquisition projects in the electric and gas utility, industrial, petrochemical, and water and wastewater sectors. Mr. Byers has over twenty four years experience in the energy and environmental fields. Before joining Black & Veatch, he served as Assistant General Counsel with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and also worked for an international oil and gas exploration company as a Title Attorney in the southwest United States. He holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from University of Missouri, and a J.D. degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. |
