Title: Human Errors Impact on The Data Center Presentation Summary: The presentation will introduce the weakest and most unpredictable link in the mission critical environment, humans. We will begin with discussion of past disasters caused by humans, followed by specific examples in the mission critical environment. Once the issue has been described in detail, counter measures will be presented. Implementing these counter measures will assist in improving the reliability of humans in the mission critical environment. Learning Objectives:
Speaker Bio: Jim Hughes is currently employed by Danaher Power Solutions and manages the Central/Midwest region for enterprise products. A graduate from Michigan State University, Jim received a BAS in Mechanical Engineering with an Electrical Engineering minor. His experience is dedicated to the power, power quality, and mission critical markets. Upon graduation, Jim worked for Siemens Energy and Automation, moved to Hammond Power Solutions, Active Power, and finally, Danaher Power Solutions. All of these are contributors to the mission critical environment, providing products ranging from custom transformers, motor controls, drives, UPS, Static Switches, PDU’s and RPP’s. Over the last five years, Jim has focused on the mission critical environment and specifically ARM (availability, reliability, maintainability). This led to indepth studies and research on human interaction with a mission critical environment, the topic of this discussion. Jim Hughes |
