Jack Poole, P.E. This presentation will discuss the challenges of achieving code compliant facilities and will discuss the advantages of using creative, performance-based designs to obtain compliance with the intent of the code, get good life-cycle performance at a reasonable price. The presentation will provide examples of how a performance-based approach has been utilized on past projects and the industry standard for establishing and documenting these performance-based approaches. These performance-based approaches have been utilized in health care facilities, institutional facilities, places of assemblies and high-tech electronic facilities. Biography: In 1991, Mr. Poole started a fire protection engineering consulting firm, Poole Fire Protection Engineering, Inc., currently called Poole Consulting Services, Inc. Currently, Mr. Poole is a Principal of the fifteen-person firm which is located in Olathe, Kansas. The firm provides code consulting and fire protection engineering consulting and design services to architectural and engineering firms, consultants and the industry. Jack Poole, P.E.
